Faces of Milan

Mackenzie Crawford

Mackenzie Crawford
National Champion, Diving

Mackenzie Crawford moved to Milan from Ann Arbor when she was five years old, attending Paddock Elementary and Milan Middle School.  She lives with her parents, and is one of four kids; two older siblings, and a twin brother.  She's now a Milan High School student, and attends Eastern Michigan University for her classes through the Early College Alliance (ECA) program.

Until around age nine, Mackenzie trained in both gymnastics at GymAmerica, and diving at EMU's junior program, Legacy Diving.  She started club diving at just 5 years old, influenced by watching her big brother, Patrick dive in high school.  Although she excelled at both sports, the rigors of practice for both gymnastics and diving required her to choose. Her love for diving appeared to be the easy choice. She began competing at a national level that same year.

She's been an active member of the Milan Diving Team throughout middle school and high school career. She has won many regional, zone, and national medals, including an Eastern National Championship at 13. She won the Michigan Club Diver of the Year in 2010 - 2014, and was recognized as the Division III Diver of the Year in 2016. She set the state record for girl's middle school diving in the 7th grade, and broke her own record as an eighth grader the next season, winning the state championship in 7th and 8th grade. As a high school diver, she has set the 11 dive school records and pool record, and was Division III State Champion in 2016.

Mackenzie is also an excellent student, receiving academic honors last semester through EMU, and was recognized by EMU's Dean's List. She was honored in middle school for her academic excellence by the Southeastern Michigan Administration Association. She is focusing on STEM, and is very interested in genetics and genetic engineering. She is still considering a number of potential colleges, and would love to find a perfect fit where she could continue her diving career as well as challenge herself academically.
