Doris Campbell was born in in Athens, Pennsylvania in a family of five. Doris graduated from Athens High School in Pennsylvania and attended Eastern Baptist College for 1 and ½ years as an Organ Major before transferring to the University of Michigan where she graduated with a degree in Education.

Doris worked at Ingersoll Rand in the Shipping Department for 1 and ½ years.  She also taught 5th grade in Gobles and Milan, Michigan. She also served as an Associate Executive in the Synod of the Covenant (PCU.S.A.) for 15and ½ years. 

Doris has served the Milan community in many capacities including, president of the Milan Music Club, member and president of the Milan Garden Club, and as member of the Milan Jaycees. She helps tend gardens at the Hack House and Peoples Presbyterian Church and chaired Milan for Better Schools (millage committee) for 11 years.

She and her husband Vern enjoyed many years of Model-T and Maxwell old car tours.  They also traveled overseas to such places as: Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica, Russia, Greece, the Middle East (Israel, Jordon, Syria), Australia and New Zealand.

Doris has been a church organist since the age of 14.
